Thoughts

I haven't picked up my mom's old digital camera for a long, long time. A few weeks ago, a photography activity prompted me to hang out with the little guy again.

I remembered then that cameras were wonderful things, and I'm so glad that the world thought about that one.

Here are some of the photos I took around my neighborhood and in school...

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. This EP made me fall in love with The Front Bottoms. Their lyrics are just so genuine, and their music really has a way of making you want to sing and dance along. It's the perfect mix between indie, rock, and punk. Very unique. When my bestfriend recommended this to me, I think I put it on repeat until the next one or two weeks. It is just SO. PUNK.

Favorite Track: Jim Bogart
Favorite Lyrics: "Since when did 'I wanna hear your voice' not become a good excuse?"
Fun Fact: The EP was named after the drummer's grandmother, "Rosemary."

Drabble #1

Lily & Lysander

(Harry Potter Drabble)

"Thanks, Sander," Lily said, after long minutes of laughing the wrackspurts out of herself as she and Lysander laid themselves on the grass.

Lysander adjusted his head to take a good look of his bestfriend. Needless to say, she was beautiful; her flaming Weasley hair matched perfectly with her bright brown eyes; she looked exactly as kind as she is, and as friendly and as welcoming as her warm heart. She may be a little crazy but so was he; they were just equally insane.

"For tricking James into eating those puking pastels?" He finally replied, slightly recovering from all the laughter. “I’ve always wanted to do that"

"No, not just that, silly," Now Lysander’s eyes were glued to her as she laughed and he swore to Merlin that memory was gonna stay in his mind for a long while. She looked so innocent, so happy, so into the moment. He admired the way she broke into a wide smile at just the memory of James puking (which, Lysander would admit, he was disgusted at, at first), life poured into her features, teeth glistening in a wide, slack jawed grin and then there was a crinkle in her eyes that made them sparkle, she was just so beautiful to him.

"For what, then?" If anything, he thinks he should be thankful to her. She understood him so well, and made him know that it was normal to believe in the weirdest things and that it doesn’t make you crazy to stare at supposedly invisible creatures; she was just so kind to him.

She placed her hands on her stomach and stared at the cloudless blue sky before giving him the answer. “For being my bestfriend and playing with me and listening to me when I wanna be heard, for understanding me—" she trailed off, looking somewhat unsatisfied like she knew she could have explained it better. "—and stuff" but then Lysander always understood what she meant, no matter how senseless it was, just as he always understood him.

She turned to her side and smiled at him, strands of red hair sliding down her face. “I just want you to know that I appreciate all of that"

Lysander mirrored her position and pushed the strands away from her face and tucked them around her ear. He smiled as well. “I appreciate you too, Lils" So much.

Prose #2

James

I met a boy by mistake. But he was the least wrong decision that anyone could make.

I saw him sitting by a lake. And thinking that I knew him, I gave him a little shake.

He was startled. I said "Hey, I'm sorry. I thought you were Ray."

He said, "No, it's okay. Nice to meet you. I'm James."

And James - he was nice. He was more than that - he was thrice. He was a joke-generating device, he gave me very useful advice and if I bump my head in my bed tomorrow when I rise, he'd be a wonderful bag of ice. He was nice. Multiplied 3 times.

But as I saw him again, and again, and again, James was no longer 3 times nice. He was, instead nice times five, then six, then seven, then five hundred thousand billion trillion - all the stars in the sky!

When did this happen? When did my life suddenly revolve around James being nice? Is this right? Is this normal? He's all I could think about at night! And in the morning, when all is boring, he is everything that I like - to think about, to try and not think about, to think about anyway... they must be right.

James is no longer 'just nice'.

James is the boy I really really like.

Like, so much.

Multiplied 3 times.

J. May

A ragged boy
From Ilinois
Caught a little glimpse

Of the lady from
The land of plums
The sight he could not miss

For in her eyes
His world there lies
The moon and stars did play

"The galaxy’s
A mystery-“
The ragged boy did say.

"-But never more
A question or
A puzzle than J. May!

"So how do i-
A ragged guy
Get my maiden May?

"Ah, yes! I know!
I’ll tell her so
And hope that she will stay.”

But then the ragged boy did see
Beneath the shady mango tree
His maiden, May! His maiden, May!
"She killed herself!" The neighbors say.

She left a note:
"Dear God, I pray…
I’m sorry— Love,
Your child, J. May.”

"The galaxy’s
A mystery-“
The ragged boy did cry.

"-But never more
A question or
A sting than that goodbye."

You And Your Gravity For Two

I'm standing on the thinnest, most fragile line between bitter and stupid, and you're the magnet that's pulling me down... into the depths of stupid, pointless crushes that never work out, and love never to be requited, never to be realized until you've hit the ground.

And I know how it feels, and I know how it stings, and I know how it goes: I fall and you don't. And I would go and make stupid songs - of love and ache and hope - for a stupid guy like you, and your stupid teen boy tropes.

I don't want to fall. In love, or in you. So I'm holding onto the thinnest, most fragile line between bitter and blue, slowly cracking and missing a screw. And I worry about it, and I wish it wasn't true. I wish I wasn't falling for you - you, and your gravity for two.

But when you smile like that, and you stare, and you care, and I see every color of the rainbow from your lips to your hair, I just stop thinking altogether, and the line I'm on is foregone, and I barely even try to hold on. I'm unmindful now,  unconcerned of how I'll fix them, and in an overwhelming chain of events - all happening in 2 or 3 seconds at best - I jump - into you. Oh, stupid, pointless crush that will never work out, and will leave me ever-blue.
